Christina Aguilera’s Style: Backstage at The Voice (Season 5)

I’m currently far from home for school/job reasons: I’ve been studying all day and I’m exhausted. I should be sleeping, or studying, or watching the latest episode of True Blood, but certainly not writing on my blog. The point is that something gets me when I receive information on Christina Aguilera’s outfits. My Twitter friend and huge Christina fan Jessica has just given me juicy news; I first thought to write about it on Wednesday, when I’m back home, but I simply can’t resist, so here we go.

31562_637255592953669_1848024056_nThis picture appeared on Internet some days ago: you can see the “historical” coaches of The Voice (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee-Lo Green and Christina) sitting on couches, Carson Daly in the middle. Rumours about a possible return of Christina and Cee-Lo have been circulating for a while, but now we can safely assume they’re really coming back. As soon as I saw the picture, I started thinking about that sparkling short dress she’s wearing. At first I thought it was by Balmain, but I couldn’t find any evidence. For sure she’s wearing Christian Louboutin slingbacks, but the picture is too low-quality to see them in detail.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Final Results

All good things come to an end and saying goodbye is always bittersweet. This surely happened yesterday with the finale of The Voice: Cassadee Pope from Team Blake was crowned winner of this edition [1], the last one with Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo Green (Shakira and Usher will replace them in the 4th edition). Moreover, December 17th is Christina’s birthday, so her fellow coaches celebrated her with a special (and funny) video. I really enjoyed the episode, filled with amazing performances featuring Smokey Robinson (who performed Cruisin’ with Nicholas David; God, I love this man and his music!), Peter Frampton (who sang Baby, I Love Your Way with Terry McDermott) and Avril Lavigne [2].

vlcsnap-2012-12-19-21h12m52s171I was a bit disappointed by Christina’s look. Don’t get me wrong: she looked lovely as usual, but I was waiting for her to sport black hair. That change didn’t happen because she wore the platinum blonde bob wig again, but there’s something else which didn’t convince me much. The Erickson Beamon body piece she wore (with chains, crystals and pearls, plus feathered epaulettes) was a showstopper, but unfortunately she paired it to a tacky black dress.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Final Live Performances

What a night! Yesterday the second last episode of The Voice featured the final live performances and included a heart-felt tribute to the victims of the recent Connecticut school shooting.  I think this was the best way to get the evening started: it’s true the show is about glitz, glam and music, but it’s also true that its protagonists are not disconnected from reality. Moreover, I really appreciated the way in which the tribute was presented, with the coaches and all the contestants of this season holding a card with the names of the victims on it; for once, the focus was not on the killer, but on the poor victims, despite what usually happens in the news.

vlcsnap-2012-12-18-14h59m05s252As for Christina, she sported two outfits. The chair look reminded me of what she wore last year at the finale (in that case, the black sequin blazer was by Dolce & Gabbana) and brought back some memories from the Back to Basics era, as my friend Jessica correctly noticed.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Semi-Final Live Results

What was your reaction yesterday when you saw Christina Aguilera at The Voice‘s semi-final live results? This morning when I saw the pics from the show I couldn’t believe my eyes. She gave us a completely different look, so interesting to write about!

A95GpSUCQAAGf0tThe mix and match of different prints is probably the focus of the whole look – polka dots and letters scattered on a white background; then comes the hair, inspired – according to her hair stylist Craig Gangi – to Japanese pop art, with those beautiful flamingo pink streaks. Last but not least, her make-up, with “giant cat eyes with no blended edges” and neutral lips, which surely achieved a dramatic effect.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Semi-Final Live Performances

Can you believe it? This is the second-last week of The Voice: the third season is not over yet, and I already miss Christina’s weekly appearances on tv. I’m excited to see what will come next in her career, but I’ll surely feel the void. But now it’s time to put sadness aside and to see what she wore yesterday, when the final four artists (two from Team Cee-Lo and two from Team Blake) performed live.

A90F6SyCQAEcYTHNow THIS is a look to die for! As my Twitter friend Jessica noticed, she looked like a modern Alex DeLarge, the charismatic protagonist of Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange (1971), who notoriously wore a bowler hat as part of his trademark outfit. In the movie the bowler hat, symbol of the most conservative part of British society, appeared among the symbols of a cultural revolution, ruled by senseless violence and lack of any morals. I think Christina is a fan of the movie by Kubrick: you may remember she dressed up as Alex at her birthday party in 2008. I love everything about this look, especially her make-up (her signature red lips are back!). Her heart-themed fan by Dengra Designs created a nice contrast with the black and white outfit.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Top 6 Live Results

The 3rd season of The Voice is coming to an end, but things are getting better and better for Christina’s style. She’s proven to be an experimentalist with her own image and she’s giving us very interesting outfits one after the other. On the other hand, the competition is reaching its peak: in yesterday’s episode the four finalists were picked (Trevin Hunte and Nicholas David from Cee-Lo’s team, Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope from Blake Shelton’s team), so in the upcoming weeks the winner will finally be chosen.

vlcsnap-2012-12-05-21h07m35s245After giving us a taste of bohemian look, Christina wore a more casual outfit which had its central point in a pink bob wig. We have recently seen her sporting pink hair in Your Body music video, but it’s nice to see her opting for it again. This hairstyle reminds me of Alice, the character played by Natalie Portman in Closer (2004) by Mike Nichols. Her outfit included black skinny jeans, custom-made tank top (embellished by black crystals) and studded leather vest, another custom-made piece reminiscent of the Givenchy fall 2007 collection.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Top 6 Live Performances

Can you believe the 3rd season of The Voice is coming to an end? The next season will start next spring but Christina won’t be among the judges, which makes me sad. We won’t get our weekly dose of Christina’s style, but I hope she’ll decide to go on tour again and to promote Lotus as it deserves. The show has reached one of its final stages: yesterday the top 6 finalists performed live, and Christina enjoyed it, even if all the members of her team have been eliminated.

gtl10websiteOh, my! She looked stunning! Maybe the only downside was her hair (she was clearly wearing a wig which looked a bit too fake for my liking), but the rest was flawless. She wore a custom-made sequined trench, a rayon slip dress and the usual array of sparkling jewellery.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Top 8 Live Results

Yesterday’s episode of The Voice was a bitter one for Christina: the “last man standing” of her team – Dez Duron – was eliminated from the competition. Although sad, she explained not to be worried for Dez, because she’s sure he’ll pursue his singing dreams and eventually reach his goals.

I’m a bit on the fence when it comes to the outfit she sported in the episode. I like the rock chick vibe of many outfits seen in the third season of the show, but that cap brings nightmares from the 80s back and it’s not a good feeling. Despite this, I love the make-up (dramatic but refined; red lips are back back baaack!) and I quite like her volumized loose hair.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Top 8 Live Performances

Are you excited about the last episodes of The Voice? Yesterday the top 8 artists performed live, so the competition is really reaching the most important phase. It’s sad when such a program comes to an end, but at the same time it’s great to see the outfits that Christina and her glam squad still have in store for us. The style she has sported in this edition has not been as consistent as the one she had in the 2nd season, but it’s true she’s stepped out of her comfort zone, and this must be appreciated. This season she’s gone through ups and downs, but in general I’m happy with what she’s worn so far, not to mention her hair and make-up, which have vastly improved.

The rock chick look is back with the sexy touch of a skin-tight leopard-print dress. I love love love her wavy hair with pink highlights and her make-up. Ok, I must admit I’m not crazy for the bubblegum pink lipstick, but I really like the blue smokey eyes. When this season wraps up, I want to write something about her fans: every week she holds one whose pattern somehow echoes her outfit, and they’re all lovely.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Top 10 Live Results

This week has really put me to the test: I’ve spent all the afternoons at school for a series of meetings and I can’t wait for it to end. This is the reason why I haven’t been able to keep up with the outfits that Christina Aguilera wore in the latest episode of The Voice. In any case, here I am with some details on what she wore during the episode which aired on November 20th. As it happened the day before, she appeared on stage for a performance (she sang Let There Be Love with Sylvia Yacoub and Dez Duron), and then she changed outfit for the rest of the episode.

Her chair outfit was amazing, especially since it was completed by a wonderful make-up and sexy hair. She wore a velvet biker jacket in a vibrant red shade, a striped top, denim shorts and over-the-knee boots. Kristofer Buckle, Christina’s make-up artist, explained this look was inspired to the blonde bob with black tips sported by Terri Nunn (Berlin’s voice) in No More Words music video. I really love these touches of contrasting colour and the same can be said for her make-up, which included a heavy cat’s eye and red lips.
