Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 5), Semi-final Performances

The 5th season of The Voice is quickly reaching its final phase. Yesterday the last five contestants performed live for the semi-finals and tomorrow only four of them will go on with the competition. At the same time, Christmas holidays are just around the corner, and you can actually feel a festive atmosphere in the show. This can be definitely seen in the outfit sported by Christina.

02She wore a lovely black dress with silver lurex thread and a cut-out suede belt. She looked nice, but the centre-parted wavy hair and the make-up not so much. This hairstyle didn’t suit her at all, and the same can be said for the make-up, which made her look too pale, especially under the eyes. Her make-up artist Scott Barnes explained he wanted to create his own “winter wonderland around the eyes”… I guess he overdid things a bit.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 5), Top 6 Live Performances

Do you know what’s the first thing that came to my mind when I saw pics from yesterday’s episode of The Voice? For the night Christina turned herself into Sandy Olsson, the nice and sweet high-school protagonist of Grease. She totally looked like the naughty Sandy we get to know at the end of the story – sexy in her skin-tight outfit and short biker jacket.

vlcsnap-2013-12-03-18h39m17s128Christina wore a cropped leather biker jacket and a black and white bandage dress. Her hair was styled in a messy French twist, while her make-up was focused on her red lips. The result was really glamourous, even if I must admit this is probably my least favourite look so far, because it’s a bit predictable.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 5) – Top 8 Live Performances

The Internet is still buzzing about Christina Aguilera’s appearance at the American Music Awards 2013, but yesterday another episode of The Voice aired, so it’s time to move on. The competition is entering its pre-final phase, with the Top 8 live performances and eliminations. I didn’t watch the whole episode, but I was glad to catch Tessanne Chin’s rendition of No Doubt’s Underneath It All. It’s one of my favourite songs by the American group and I think she really did justice to it.

tumblr_mwuz4mk40t1qbhhnbo1_500Christina was smouldering in a black and royal blue jacquard long-sleeved dress, wavy hair and glamourous make-up. She is still keeping things simple and classy, definitely a much-welcomed style choice.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 5) – Top 10 Live Performances

Is there a limit to improvement? If so, I’m pretty sure Christina Aguilera will easily reach it by the end of The Voice. Her whole look is getting better and better and I start lacking words of praise when it comes to describing her outfits. Yesterday, for example, she sported an editorial version of the classic school girl look. She had already opted for such a look, but this time she gave it the quirky touch of a milkmaid braid updo [1].

836854196_VCE_09_122_382loI am speechless. Everything about her look was flawless, especially her make-up and hairstyle. Let me tell you I really loved Scott Barnes’s choice for a deep burgundy lip colour (Make Up Forever Rouge Artiste Intense lipstick in #48, topped with Barnes lipgloss in Brandywine), which matched the colour of her nail polish.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 5) – Top 12 Live Performances

After last week’s Top 12 event, a new phase has started for the fifth season of The Voice: yesterday the members of the four teams performed live. I really really really loved Jacquie Lee‘s rendition of U2’s Love Is Blindess, so heartfelt and intense!

02Christina sported a lovely look, wearing a little black dress with studded leather panels and diamond jewellery. I’m glad she wore her hair side-parted and sleek, because this hairstyle gave her a fresher and 90s-inspired vibe. Hey, it seems she’s discovered how to turn back time! I’m a bit on the fence when it comes to her make-up, because I think that neutral lipstick incredibly washed her out.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 5) – Live Show Eliminations & Top 12 Event

The Voice is entering its hottest phase: yesterday 8 members of the teams were eliminated and now only 12 of them will continue the competition. Christina sported another gorgeous black and white outfit, which emphasized her rock chick side.

tumblr_mvtu7eKrGA1qbhhnbo3_r1_500I’ve always been a fan of black dresses on her, but now I’m becoming a supporter of her black and white phase. Such a clear contrast of colours provides the ideal backdrop for expressing her new style. Yesterday she wore a pair of black skinny jeans, a gorgeous white blouse with crystal embellishment, paired to towering heels and diamond jewellery.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 5) – Live Shows

Could this get any better? This morning, when I saw the pics from yesterday’s episode of The Voice (the second part of the live shows), I was in awe of Christina’s look. It was so fresh, youthful and chic, a clear departure from the colourful wig extravaganza of the Season 3. I’ve waited so long for such a drastic change in her style that now I can’t believe it’s finally here!

03 (1)So, so, so beautiful! She wore a white printed silk shirt, a pair of black zipped trousers with black suspenders and her trademark diamond jewellery. Her red nails, glamourous make-up and side-parted wavy hairstyle added the finishing touches.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 5) – Knockout Rounds

After some weeks devoted to blind auditions and battle rounds, the competition at The Voice has just entered a new phase – the Knockout Rounds – where singers of the same team “fight” one against the other and only one of them will be chosen by the team coach.

04Christina looked sensational, sporting a look (white shirt and loose tie) which she had already sported at the time of Back to Basics. It’s funny and probably not a coincidence that she wore clothing and accessories which had been already spotted on her. I like this because it shows she loves some of the things she wore in the past and is not afraid to give them another chance. A moment of appreciation for her glamourous make-up and wavy hairstyle, please, because they’re really flawless.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Final Live Performances

What a night! Yesterday the second last episode of The Voice featured the final live performances and included a heart-felt tribute to the victims of the recent Connecticut school shooting.  I think this was the best way to get the evening started: it’s true the show is about glitz, glam and music, but it’s also true that its protagonists are not disconnected from reality. Moreover, I really appreciated the way in which the tribute was presented, with the coaches and all the contestants of this season holding a card with the names of the victims on it; for once, the focus was not on the killer, but on the poor victims, despite what usually happens in the news.

vlcsnap-2012-12-18-14h59m05s252As for Christina, she sported two outfits. The chair look reminded me of what she wore last year at the finale (in that case, the black sequin blazer was by Dolce & Gabbana) and brought back some memories from the Back to Basics era, as my friend Jessica correctly noticed.

Christina Aguilera’s Style: The Voice (Season 3) – Semi-Final Live Performances

Can you believe it? This is the second-last week of The Voice: the third season is not over yet, and I already miss Christina’s weekly appearances on tv. I’m excited to see what will come next in her career, but I’ll surely feel the void. But now it’s time to put sadness aside and to see what she wore yesterday, when the final four artists (two from Team Cee-Lo and two from Team Blake) performed live.

A90F6SyCQAEcYTHNow THIS is a look to die for! As my Twitter friend Jessica noticed, she looked like a modern Alex DeLarge, the charismatic protagonist of Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange (1971), who notoriously wore a bowler hat as part of his trademark outfit. In the movie the bowler hat, symbol of the most conservative part of British society, appeared among the symbols of a cultural revolution, ruled by senseless violence and lack of any morals. I think Christina is a fan of the movie by Kubrick: you may remember she dressed up as Alex at her birthday party in 2008. I love everything about this look, especially her make-up (her signature red lips are back!). Her heart-themed fan by Dengra Designs created a nice contrast with the black and white outfit.
