This week has really put me to the test: I’ve spent all the afternoons at school for a series of meetings and I can’t wait for it to end. This is the reason why I haven’t been able to keep up with the outfits that Christina Aguilera wore in the latest episode of The Voice. In any case, here I am with some details on what she wore during the episode which aired on November 20th. As it happened the day before, she appeared on stage for a performance (she sang Let There Be Love with Sylvia Yacoub and Dez Duron), and then she changed outfit for the rest of the episode.
Her chair outfit was amazing, especially since it was completed by a wonderful make-up and sexy hair. She wore a velvet biker jacket in a vibrant red shade, a striped top, denim shorts and over-the-knee boots. Kristofer Buckle, Christina’s make-up artist, explained this look was inspired to the blonde bob with black tips sported by Terri Nunn (Berlin’s voice) in No More Words music video. I really love these touches of contrasting colour and the same can be said for her make-up, which included a heavy cat’s eye and red lips.
Her Balmain red velvet jacket has a quilted front panel and the shape of a classic biker jacket. In the picture above you can get a glimpse of her boots, too – Supra Fifre boots by Christian Louboutin.
These luxury items were paired to simple pieces – cut-off denim shorts by Ksubi and a basic striped tank top by American Apparel.
The performance outfit was more casual: it included black leggings and matching top, a LGB leopard-print chiffon dress with asymmetrical hem and – drum rolls – a pair of trainers! This was a quite shocking choice but I can see why she opted for comfortable shoes: during the performance she danced and jumped and doing it with heels on is clearly more difficult and uncomfortable. She opted for a pair of studded wedge sneakers by Giuseppe Zanotti.
She also wore a beautiful Topshop denim vest with gold spikes decorating the shoulders. You may remember she wore the same vest when she performed at the Final 12 party.
The jewellery department included an array of gold chain bracelets, a gold spiked ring and the Confetti arc ring by Erickson Beamon she wore at the 2012 AMAs press conference in October.
She also wore one of her favourite pieces – the Superstud spiked necklace by Stephen Webster.
In case you missed it, here is the performance. I really enjoyed it, because Christina sounded great and full of energy. I think this one makes up for the messy performance at the 2012 American Music Awards. As for her look, I think she’s rarely looked better than this: she’s having fun with fashion and has finally decided to do something with her hair. All the wigs with colourful tips she’s been wearing lately are funny and really suit her. Don’t you agree?
