… and when I thought things couldn’t get better, the fashion gods taking care of Christina have surprised me with another killer look! I was very excited today to see the pictures from the red carpet of the American Music Awards which took place last night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
She embodied the platinum blonde bombshell, exhuding glamour in her white dress with side cut-outs, sparkling heels and an incredible amount of diamond jewellery. She looked incredible and she knew it: she worked the red carpet with grace and kind of took her revenge on those who harshly criticised the appearances she made at the AMAs in recent times.
The dress is a creation by Maria Lucia Hohan. Christina was first spotted wearing the Jasmine dress last October, while on set with Mark Liddell. I’m quite surprised she decided to wear it again for such an important occasion, but no one can deny she made a good choice.
She paired the white dress with Very Riche Strass peep-toe pumps by Christian Louboutin. The sparkle was amplified by the baguette-cut crystals embellishing her Cosma tube clutch by Jimmy Choo.
And now a moment of silence: feast your eyes on the incredible set of diamond jewellery she wore. All the pieces were by Lorraine Schwartz – interlocking earrings, a rose-cut flower ring and two flower rings. As a huge jewellery lover (but not wearer) I’m pretty speechless, especially when it comes to those exquisite flower rings.
I had no idea this post would include a “Who wore it better?” moment, but the Jasmine dress was seen on Eva Longoria, too. The actress wore it last year when she attended the Padres Contra el Cancer’s 12th annual El Sueno de Esperanza gala in Las Vegas; she accessorized it with black satin Brian Atwood pumps and a Swarovski Party Time clutch. I prefer the styling on Christina, but I like the dress a bit longer, just like the one seen on Eva. Probably Christina got it shorter not to have stumbling problems on the red carpet, but it would have been chicer if longer.
If you were excited for her red carpet look, probably what she wore during the Say Something performance with A Great Big World let you down. I can tell you it was my favourite because she looked so fresh-faced and elegant.
I have a thing for updos, so I welcomed with enthusiasm the return of the milkmaid braid look. I’m also glad that she wore the same look she has in the song’s music video: she only replaced the tank dress with a long version and different Louboutins.
Her long black tank dress is by Alexander Wang: made of modal spandex jersey, it has a low scoop neckline and thin spaghetti straps. I love love love the understated refinement of such a basic piece of clothing!
She took off all the bling and wore a cocktail ring on her left hand only. She also wore Christian Louboutin Palais Royal peep-toe pumps.
In case you missed it, here is her performance. I’m so proud of her, even if I’ve always hated those accusing her of over-singing: this time she sounded perfect, so fragile and emotional, very very controlled. I simply loved it: a beautiful and intense moment.
