It’s true that you realize that you really miss something when you haven’t had it for a long time. I’m referring to Christina Aguilera performing live in a dramatic show, such as the one that she put on yesterday at the Top 10 live results of The Voice. Christina and her team gave an intense rendition of three hit songs by Janet (Black Cat from Rhythm Nation 1814) and Michael Jackson (Bad from the 1987 album of the same title and Scream, which is a duet between them). I enjoyed the whole performance, but especially Black Cat, one of my favourite songs by Janet.
On this occasion Christina went back to one of her favourite stage looks – the one that pays homage to circus with a touch of military vibe. She wore a gorgeous vintage tailcoat by Alexander McQueen, paired to over-the-knee lace-up boots and an item which she has already worn in another edition of the programme.
Her boots, with pointed toes and sexy sky-high heels, are obviously by Christian Louboutin, while her studded high-waisted shorts are by OMO by Norma Kamali. You may remember she wore them with a Dolce & Gabbana white shirt and a sequin blazer during the finale of the second season.
Her chair look was gorgeous, as well. She channelled her inner Madonna circa 1989 by wearing a pinstriped blazer and a vintage monocle necklace, just like the one worn by the Queen of Pop in the Express Yourself video by David Fincher. Her curly hair is reminiscent of the style sported by Madonna in the same video.
Her wool double-breasted blazer with peak lapels, front patch pockets, chest pocket and high padded shoulders is by Boy by Band of Outsiders. Such a tailored garment was paired to coated metallic tuxedo leggings by David Lerner, a black satin bra and Balmain booties.
Besides the monocle, the jewellery department included a thin chain necklace, gold hoop earrings and an interesting set of rings by Suneera.
On her right hand she wore the Aerie ring.
I loved everything about this look, including her Smoke n’ Mirrors make-up by Scott Barnes, who used NARS Orgasm blush on her cheeks, a chocolate brown eye-shadow by Dior, a black gel liner by Make Up Forever, a black eye-shadow and Expert Eyes black eye-pencil by Maybelline. He also used DiorShow mascara and Flutter Kim falsies to top it off.
Sorry if Christina’s style posts have taken this blog by storm, but I don’t have time enough to write about anything else in this period. I hope her fans will appreciate it 😉
