Every year the magazine Time publishes a list of the 100 most influential personalities, from artists to leaders; this year, Christina Aguilera has been put in the list and none other than Celine Dion explained why she’s deserved it. Christina has gone through a hard time recently: she was supposed to attend the ceremony of the induction of Donna Summer to the Rock and Roll House of Fame, but she didn’t make it because of a high fever and upper respiratory infection. Thank God she didn’t miss the chance to walk the red carpet of the Time 100 Gala, which took place on April 23rd, 2013, in New York.
This is the first picture of the event I saw this morning and I must admit I was overjoyed: Christina looked amazing and she was posing with Lena Dunham!
She was gorgeous, wasn’t she??? Old Hollywood glamour at its best! She looked flawless and confident, wearing a demure black dress and sky-high peep-toe pumps. She pumped up the glam with an array of Lorraine Schwartz diamond jewellery (including an impressive diamond and rock crystal necklace), a lovely side-parted wavy hairstyle and her trademark red lips-red nails combo. I was in awe of her at the 2013 Kids’ Choice Awards, but this time she looked even better.
Her dress was designed by Victoria Beckham and is part of the spring/summer 2013 collection. It has spaghetti straps, a wide neckline, side satin bands and a sexy cut in the upper part of the bodice. Simone Harouche (Christina’s stylist) did a great choice: the dress was really event-appropriate and enhanced Christina’s curves with its simple style.
Besides walking the red carpet, Christina took the stage during the party and sang some songs (Beautiful, Lady Marmalade and At Last, a homage to the late Etta James). After all the speculations following her departure from The Voice, the decision not to make a Lotus tour, the eye-opening letter written by David Munk and the no-show at the Donna Summer induction, she finally decided to go back to the stage, that’s where she belongs. In this case, she wore a stunning black pantsuit by Alexandre Vauthier.
Christina really loves peplum jackets: she wore one by Alexander McQueen on May 2012, at the Semifinal performances of The Voice (season 2). The jacket she wore yesterday is from Vauthier’s fall/winter 2012 collection: it has a plunging neckline and inverted satin lapels. She paired it to skinny trousers and a crystal-embellished top under the jacket.
I love this picture! At the beginning of the performance she wore a black fedora hat, an accessory which brings me back to the Back to Basics era. Above we can also have a clear view of her shoes: she wore Christian Louboutin Very Prive peep-toe pumps with red platforms.
After making such a smashing appearance, what do you think will come next? Can’t wait to see what she has in store for us! Some new music, I hope.
