Christina Aguilera’s Style: Promoting “Burlesque” on TV, November 2010

I’ve been keeping this post in the drafts for days, but only today I found the time to write and publish it! I’m so sorry for the delay, but these have been quite busy weeks for me. Ok, in any case, here I am with the latest updates from the Aguilera planet.

If you live in the US, I guess you probably already had the chance to watch Burlesque. Lucky you! I’ve just learnt it will be released in Italy next February, which is so unfair! But still. Before the official release of the movie and after the premiere in Los Angeles, she was busy with promoting it in several American tv programmes and talk shows. She did interviews and performed, singing songs from the sountrack of the movie, which is currently #1 on ITunes.

On November 17th she did an appearance at the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

She looked so radiant and beautiful. She wore a lovely black lace sleeveless sheath dress, accessorizing it with black patent pumps and her trusty Stephen Webster Batmoth diamond ring.

Her dress is a Dolce & Gabbana creation. It looks like the lace on Christina’s dress has got a different pattern, if compared to the dress on the model, but the style of the dress is the same.

Everybody knows she’s a die-hard fan of Christian Louboutin shoes, so it’s no wonder that she opted for one of her favourite styles, the Bianca, gorgeous platform patent pumps. In the picture above, you can also see the hairstyle, a cute braided half-updo, which is quite unusual for her. She looked nice, didn’t she? After the interview, she sang Bound to You, a breath-taking ballad from Burlesque soundtrack.

After some days, she did an appearance at Conan, sporting a very different outfit.

I think she hasn’t looked so good for a long time! I particularly love this outfit because it’s sexy and flirty but classy, and because it perfectly fits her curvy body. She wore a polka dot dress and Christian Louboutin Madame Claude red patent d’orsays.

Her draped strapless polka dot dress is another creation by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, from the D&G Pre-Fall 2010 collection.

Her make-up and hair were flawless: she sported her trademark red lips and loose blonde locks. She also added a cute accessory: a Solange Azagury-Partridge Hot Lips ring in silver and enamel, perfect for a notouriously red-lipstick obsessed. After the interview, she gave an impressive rendition of a 1962 song by Etta James, Something’s Got a Hold on Me.

On November 23rd, she performed with her dancers at Dancing with the Stars finale, singing Show Me How You Burlesque and one of her most famous songs, Beautiful.

I don’t know if you were lucky enough to watch the performance on tv, or if you watched it later, on YouTube, but I think it would have been amazing to watch it live, because it was so powerful and full of energy. Christina looked sexier than ever (despite what the haters think, I admire her for flaunting a curvy body with such grace). All her dancers were wearing gold costumes, just like Christina’s.

She wore a gold fringed dress, an amazing pair of diamantè fishnet tights and gold strappy dancing shoes. I must admit she should have worn a costume, something more showgirl-y, not a dress.

When she sang Beautiful, she wore a different outfit, much more casual than the gold dress. I am a bit disappointed by this choice, because this ensemble is very similar to what she wears everyday, but she looked beautiful the same.

She wore skinny jeans, a black blazer (she shouldn’t have worn it, it makes the outfit look so heavy), a white printed tank and another pair of Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps, the Ambro Lace.

Her tank is by Alexander McQueen, embellished by a skull appliquè. She’s has always been a great fan of Alexander McQueen bags and skull items, but I’m still looking forward to seeing her finally wearing a dramatic dress.

What do you think of these outfits and of her performances? Have you watched Burlesque yet? Please no spoilers, but I’d like to hear your dispassionate opinions.

  1. Super,
    A.

  2. Non saprei. Troppo magra non mi piace, ma questa nuova figura più piena le si addice, secondo me. Christina ha un’anima soul, per questo la vedo bene con qualche chilo in più.
D’accordissimo invece sul blazer con gli skinny. Bocciatissimo!

  3. Those two D&G dresses are to die for! But my favourite is the one you posted from the D&G website- I love yellow dresses, and this one is just spectacular!!!
I think Christina still looks great even if she’s a bit plumper, and as you said, I think it actually suits her “Old Hollywood Diva” (kind of) style

    1. You’re right. The polka-dot dress, in particular, perfectly suits her style. Love it how it was styled (with red accessories), too.
