This week New York is officially the capital city of fashion: it’s buzzing with hundreds of fashion shows, hard work and endless partying, and this means lots of celebrities hop from one show to another. Among these is Kelly Rutherford, our favourite Gossip Girl regular, who has dismissed her proper and prim fictional persona to attend some fashion shows and presentations.
I’ll post here all the events she has taken part in, starting from the more recent to the older.
On February 16th she was sitting in the front row at Narciso Rodriguez fashion show.
Unfortunately, this is the only picture I could get of the event, so her entire outfit is not visible. From what we can see, she was wearing a draped floral dress and a cute necklace made of metal turtles. Her hair was styled in an updo and her make-up was light and simple as usual. I’m glad she dismissed the black eye-liner (applied on the upper lid only) she wore on February 13th: one thing is a proper smokey eye, with eyeliner or black eye pencil on the upper and lower lash-lines, one thing is applying a thick line of eye-liner (without wings or other) like this.
On February 15th Kelly attended the Ecco Domani Foundation fashion show at Bryant Park. I’m glad this time she wore something she knew it would have been perfect for her.
She chose a leopard-print shift dress, pairing it with black tights, Christian Louboutin Simple pumps in black leather and two pieces of her impressive Hermès collection.
She is so lady-like in this pic! I like her make-up, subtle with a touch of coral on lips, and her trademark updo. I’ve seen them several times on her, but please let me drool over her Hermès Medor watch and Kelly Sellier bag once again!
She attended the event from the front row, sitting with the likes of Tinsley Mortimer, AnnaLynne McCord, Molly Sims and Kate Walsh.
On February 13th she attended Alice+Olivia presentation at the Gansevoort Hotel, and later was among the guests of the launch party for My Fashion Database, hosted by Zoe Saldana at SL Lounge. She sported the same outfit at both the events.
She looks so fresh, feminine and modern here. She wore a pleated and draped white sleeveless top, a fur vest, skinny jeans, Christian Louboutin Declic suede pumps and amazing accessories. Her hair was straight and loose, with central parting, a nice change from her trademark updo with side parting.
Her white top is an Alice+Olivia creation, from the spring/summer 2010 collection. In the pic above we are given a gorgeous Hermès moment: she carried her trusty Birkin bag in Etoupe and wore one of her Collier de Chien cuff bracelets (the leather is beige/powder pink) around the wrist. Sublime!
She wore two necklaces – one long with a precious pendant in gold and diamonds, one shorter in gold and mother-of-pearl. If you regularly read my posts on Lily Van der Woodsen’s style, you’ll surely recognize this second necklace, a Van Cleef & Arpels Vintage Alhambra pendant she wore in the second season of the show.
She attended Alice+Olivia presentation with her partner on screen, Matthew Settle. Aren’t they a lovely couple?
On February 12th Kelly was in front row at Nicole Miller’s fashion show in Bryant Park. She sported an outfit I’m quite disappointed with.
First of all, the dress: it’s a nice shift dress by Nicole Miller, with embellishments on the bodice, but I don’t think it suited Kelly. Maybe it’s the colour, maybe it’s the lenght, but I don’t like it at all.
Oops! Kelly and Beth Ostrosky Stern wore exactly the same dress at the event! I think it’s more age appropriate on Beth. Kelly’s accessories all came from Nicole Miller’s collection, such as Lyla, a silver zip-around clutch with tassel.
Both the statement necklace and the hoop earrings are made of glass, and they beautifully complete the outfit. There’s something wrong with Kelly here: maybe a softer hairstyle would have helped, or perhaps a different lipstick shade. This red lipstick is too harsh if paired to an all-white outfit.
The only thing I actually loved of her outfit were her Christian Louboutin Declic pumps in grey suede.
