Christina Aguilera’s Style: At the George McGovern Leadership Award Ceremony, October 3rd, 2012

“Better is never enough”, Christina Aguilera must be thinking in this period. After dying her hair purple, being honoured at the ALMA Awards and releasing a brand new music video, she’s proven she’s finally found her own style voice and I couldn’t be happier. We’ve seen her struggle with different styles, but nothing seemed really appropriate for her. Now I’ve realized that she’s the perfect (unofficial) Alexander McQueen testimonial; see what she wore yesterday at the 2012 George McGovern Leadership Award Ceremony in Washington, DC, and judge for yourself.

At the event she was honoured for her work in support of the World Food Program, along with Yum! Brands chairman David Novak. Besides being so proud of her, I’m happy her charity work has been acknowledged. “Proud to use my voice for good & help fromhungertohope.com,” she tweeted just before the ceremony. She looked absolutely ravishing, wearing an aubergine fitted dress and sporting a flawless make-up.

The classy designs of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and Christina’s curves seem to be a match made in heaven. She “fills” these beautiful dresses and does them justice; she’s not a thin-stick model who just puts the dress on, but emphasizes them with her full figure. This time she chose an aubergine halterneck jersey pencil dress. She’s never dressed in this colour, but I think it really suits her.

She also wore a pair of Christian Louboutin Maggie pumps in nude.

Here she is with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who looked thrilled to have Christina in attendance. In this picture, we can see she wore one of her favourite Loree Rodkin pieces, the Ghost diamond ring she’s worn many times.

Her hairstyle – centre parting, braids and chignon – is so nice! I wish she styled her hair like this more often, because she looked sexy and refined. Kudos to Mark Townsend for creating such a beautiful updo on her. I also want to comment on her make-up, which really looked flawless here. Stephen Sollitto wrote she did her own make-up and he consulted ;) In any case, I think she should stick to this make-up: neutral lips/purple eyes/bronze rose blush is a stunning combo.

What do you think of this outfit? I can see things keep on getting better in the style department. Do you agree?

    A.

F.to Michela/ Ombraserena.

    1. Ciao!

A presto!
